MYOPIA CONTROL
Myopia Management
Clearer Vision Today.
Healthier Eyes for the Future.
Myopia, or nearsightedness, often begins during childhood and can continue to progress as a child grows. At Long Valley Eye Care, our myopia management program is designed to help slow that progression while providing your child with clear, comfortable vision.
UNDERSTANDING MYOPIA
What Is Myopia?
Myopia, commonly called nearsightedness, causes distant objects to appear blurry while objects up close remain clearer.
In many children, myopia progresses as the eye grows longer from front to back. This is known as increased axial length.
Traditional glasses can correct blurry vision, but myopia management is designed to help slow the progression of nearsightedness.

WHY IT MATTERS
Why Manage Myopia Early?
Myopia often develops during the school years and may continue to increase as a child’s eyes grow.
Higher levels of myopia are associated with an increased lifetime risk of certain eye conditions, including retinal detachment, glaucoma and myopic macular degeneration.
Starting myopia management early can help slow progression and reduce how nearsighted your child becomes.
TREATMENT OPTIONS
Myopia Treatments We Offer
There is no single myopia management treatment that is right for every child. We evaluate your child’s vision, eye health, prescription and lifestyle to recommend an appropriate approach.
Low-Dose
Atropine Drops
Prescription eye drops used at bedtime may be recommended to help slow the progression of myopia in some children.
Multifocal
Contact Lenses
Specially designed soft contact lenses provide clear distance vision while creating peripheral defocus that can help slow myopia progression.
Myopia Control
Eyeglasses
Specialized eyeglass lenses use peripheral defocus technology to help slow myopia progression without the need for contact lenses.
PERSONALIZED CARE
A Myopia Management Plan for Your Child
Every child’s eyes and lifestyle are different. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation to determine your child’s current prescription and assess how their myopia is progressing.
We then recommend a treatment strategy based on factors such as age, prescription, eye health, lifestyle and your family’s preferences.
Regular follow-up visits allow us to monitor your child’s vision and make adjustments as their eyes continue to grow.
